Job Description
Duties:
DatabaseDesign: To meet application requirements, create and maintain database schemas, tables, and dictionary definitions.
Query Development: Create sophisticated joins, views, and highly optimized SQL queries to extract data for a range of business requirements.
Programmability: To automate business logic at the database layer, create and manage stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
Performance tuning: Examine execution tactics and use query refactoring and indexing techniques to optimize slow-running queries.
ETL Processes: Using programs like SSIS, Informatica, or Talend, create and implement Extract, Transform, Load packages to transfer data across various systems.
Data Integrity & Security: Manage user rights and data encryption to safeguard sensitive information; apply constraints and triggers to guarantee data consistency.
Analytics and Reporting: Work with BI teams to develop data models and supply the backend logic for reports and dashboards.
Focus Skills:
SQL Mastery: In-depth knowledge of PGSQL (PostgreSQL), PL/SQL (Oracle), or T-SQL (SQL Server).
Knowledge of optimization: Expertise in impasse resolution, execution plan analysis, and index management.
Data modeling: Strong grasp of dimensional modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas) and normalization (1NF, 2NF, 3NF).
Tool Proficiency: Knowledge of database administration programs such as pgAdmin, Toad, or SSMS.
The capacity to convert intricate business rules into effective technical reasoning.
