VMC Setter Machining Shop & Production Line Setup
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Advanced Fixture Setup & Work Holding: Complete milling changes by methodically mounting, inspecting, and fastening complex work-holding systems, such as rotary tables, hydraulic clamping fixtures, modular vices, and custom angle plates.
Work Coordinate System (WCS) Calibration: Use edge finders, dial test indicators, or electronic touch probes to define and set absolute machine part zeroes (G54 to G59 coordinate matrices).
Cutting Tool Assembly & Indexing: Choose, examine, and put certain milling cutting tools into the appropriate tool holders. Examples of these tools include indexable face mills, solid carbide endmills, high-feed cutters, drills, taps, and reamers.
Tool Offset Entry & Measurement: Use tool pre-setters or on-machine touch blocks to measure and enter exact tool length offsets and tool radius compensation variables into the machine controller memory banks.
NC Part Program Retrieval & Debugging: Use Direct Numerical Control (DNC) lines to retrieve specific part programs. Examine program lines and adjust G-codes and M-codes to maximize feed rates, spindle speeds, or depth overrides during dry runs.
First-Piece Approval & Offset Fine-Tuning: Safely carry out the first sample trail milling run in single-block execution mode, inspect the first-off piece using precision inspection tools, and modify wear offsets to get the desired mean dimensions.
