The Midwifery Institution over the years had been admitting students for a one-year midwifery programme until 2007 when the programme was changed to eighteen months. At a point in history, the number of nurses coming for Post Basic Midwifery training dwindled. Management applied for a change of programme which was acknowledged and approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. In February 2021, the institution started the Basic Midwifery programme with the first batch to graduate in March 2024.
